78% of American teens say that their parents have a lot of influence on their life.
Believe it or not, parents matter to teenagers. It might not feel like it sometimes, but your teenager is watching you. Watching how you live, and how you worship God. In fact statistically, you are the most influential person in your teen’s life.
Sometimes youth ministries are seen as the vital component to meeting the spiritual needs and nurture of teenagers. Youth pastors are great (at least I think so), but the honest truth is that no one spends more time with and around your teens than you. This is why I see parents as not only important, but vital to the spiritual development of the teens in our student ministry.
Thank you for letting me partner with you in raising your child. I know they call me the youth pastor, but please know- I am here to help and aid you just as much as your teenager. What do I know about parenting? Let me be honest: very little. But one thing I can do to help is keep you plugged into what’s happening in youth culture.
